Listing Description

Very close to the port of Adamas, is the church of the Holy Trinity, which also houses the Ecclesiastical Museum.
This church, which is a thousand years old, is characterized as a “cross-roofed three-aisled basilica with a dome”, since it consists of three aisles on which the dome rises vertically in the same shape as the church. This type of church is very rare (there is only one other church, in the Peloponnese, in Levidi, Arcadia) and is a very interesting architectural monument.
It was originally created to function as a monastery under the name of Panagia Theofani, but in 1839 it was bought by Cretan refugees and made the church of their village. The edges and arches of its bell tower are influenced by Gothic, while the lintels and pillars are decorated with sculptures of traditional and religious motifs. At the entrance, in the courtyard, you will see two mosaics, creations of the local artist Giagos Kavroudakis. These two colored mosaics date back to 1937 and one represents a dragon in the shape of Milos, while the other represents the battle of good and evil.
Since 2000, the Ecclesiastical Museum of Milos has been housed in Agia Triada, where you have the opportunity to admire much of the Maleki artistic tradition and heritage and the Maleki hagiographic tradition. More specifically, you can see images from the 14th century (such as a rare deconstruction), works of the Cretan school, works of Emmanuel and Antonios Skordilis and Cretan painters, epitaphs and wood carvings, 17th century iconostasis, the despotic throne, the iconostasis , silver goblets, incense burners, gold tributes, rings, necklaces, earrings and other exhibits of high artistic value.
