Listing Description
At the top of the Castle, you will find the small vaulted church of Panagia Skoniotissa or Mesa Panagia. You maintain the current building of the church in very good condition, since it is post-war. The older naidrio was blown up during the German occupation to replace the anti-aircraft cantilever and so the inhabitants rebuilt it after 1944.
The name “Skiniotissa” is rumored to have been taken from the icon of the Virgin Mary found on a skin, at the top of the Castle.
